Inside of this creative, 6 week self-discovery process, you will be guided into unlocking the power of your embodiment through exploring a powerful neural plexus in your body called your vagus nerve. Sometimes called the “wandering nerve” due to it’s interwoven and branching nature, it has also been named the “Tree of Life” by some mystics. 

The vagus nerve essentially connects your brain to your deepest visceral organs (i.e. the heart, lungs, diaphragm, and deeper visceral gut), acting as a communication medium between them. It is also tied to your fight or flight response. When under-developed or over-taxed—due to trauma—it can reek havoc on our lives in the form of unconscious responses. 

The vagus nerve is also tied to our voice, and our ability to relate emotionally through subtle expressive facial cueing. When the vagus nerve is expanded in it’s ability to communicate efficiently and clearly in, supporting more subtle forms of connection, the body lights up, and can flow more easily through the various connections we make. 

This class will endeavor to explore how both language and voice are rooted in embodiment, and how art can be used as a powerful bridge to catalyze the new symbols which can help spark both a personal and collective awakening through artistic play.

Megwyn White has spent over 20 years researching and exploring the dynamics of human emotions as they are mapped inside the body’s tissue.

​She graduated from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, where she focused on physical theater and dance.

​Through years working one on one with clients, she discovered "patterns of contraction" in relation to the energy of voice within the body. Her technique includes powerful self-care tools, and rituals that awaken the constellation of emotions that are often locked inside the body's tissue as fear, shame, and trauma.


in this creative and self-transformative training you will:

  • Release tensions that often limit your expression and connection to self.
  • Learn key areas that trauma gets locked in the body and practical methods for releasing them while deepening power and agency to heal.
  • Activate your voice to be a magnetic tool to aligning with your personal power, and manifesting in your life.

  • Learn artistic techniques which can act as meditative tools to releasing limiting beliefs and blocks that keep you from your true power. 
  • Release physical blocks that cause insecurity and keep you stuck in your thoughts as opposed to grounded in the body. 
  • Learn how to work with your body as a vehicle of understanding yourself, and the deeper truths about your own personal essence. 
  • Use play as an alchemical tool to infusing joy and inspiration no matter what you feel or current state is. 
  • Develop more awareness around your own personal process
  • Improve your artistic aesthetic as a way of developing personal confidence and individuality. 

What you'll discover on this six-week transformational journey

Within this exciting 6 week process we will explore allowing paintings to emerge in a natural way while also allowing the process itself to be a form of active meditation. This practice will help to unlock your ability to create fluidly through the visual medium of abstract art on a canvas of foam paper.

You will discover how painting can be both easy and fun but also a powerful method to release anxiety and improve focus and attention.

For each themed week, we'll explore a somatic method of clearing tension and anxiety from the body, and use art as a way to help bridge an even deeper healing.

​You too can be an artist. This course will help to curate the often difficult journey which can be riddled with self-judgement. Instead this class invites you to use art as a healing ritual, ​helping to release anxiety while stimulating creativity and self-expression.

Module 1: Introduction to the Vagus Nerve and its Connections in the Body (Dec 7)

The vagus nerve is the emotional highway within our central nervous system. This week explores exactly how this wiring is woven throughout the body, and what systems it directly effects. You’ll learn how the vagus nerve implicitly ties to the voice, emotional dimensions of embodiment, and even orgasm. 

This week we will learn how trauma and stress patterns often effect the subtle connections within the vagus nerve. You’ll learn why play and intimacy is so important to regulate the integrity within this part of the nervous system, and how specifically art and intention can help to unlock this channel.

We'll also be looking at the details of how this neuorological wiring is actually inviting us to becoming more embodied. We’ll look at how trauma and repressed emotion inhibit the intelligence within the vagus nerve, and how to unblock those reflexive patterns and instead activate the natural curious energy of play as a vital guiding force.

Module 2: Grounding the Body Electric and Invoking Primal Wisdom (December 14)

In this session we will explore how the body is meant to ground and support its energy through the integration of the breath and embodied experience. We will also begin exploring how to work with visceral feedback tools as a way to further develop more subtle connections to energy within your body, and help expand the tissues of expression and experience. 
​

You will learn how emotional energy can be grounded into the body through techniques which also help to support breath and the expression of voice. For this class we will dive deeper into grounding your embodied intention, and work with nature to create a unique talisman that will anchor your journey into embodiment. 

In this module, you will learn:
  • Why vulnerability is the key to embodied wisdom
  • Understanding the facial core and it’s connections to expression and experience of emotions. 
  • How salt is an essential ingredient to supporting the nervous system, and also can act as a catalyst to moving stagnant energy
  • Using nature in the form of a rock to become inspired about the next phase of your embodied evolution

Module 3: Activating the the Chain Connection of Embodied Breath (December 21)

For this week, we will begin to explore the fascial nature within the body and how the breath acts as a support structure to expand the relationship of the vagus nerve—from head to pelvic floor. You will learn how to help nurture this relationship and attune yourself to a deeper layer of embodied breath. These techniques will help to activate the support structures of breath and cerebral spinal fluid, while working to integrate the tissues within the body, allowing them to become more available to receive your embodied intention. 

This week will also introduce a fluid painting technique to access your sensual connection to color. You will be invited to hold intention and embodied awareness as you dive into mediums that activate your vagus nerve through play, surprise, and aesthetic beauty. 

In this module, you will learn: 
  • The connections of fascial tissue and how it is mirrored throughout the body as the key to embodied expression
  • The power of cerebral spinal fluid in unlocking the bodies’ energy and how that is linked to breathe and the “postural plates” of support within the body
  • The body as an accordion of breath to support vocal resonance and projection
  • Drawing the breathe with single strokes as a way to anchor embodied intention through art

Module 4: Freeing the Physical Heart through Unlocking the Shoulder Girdle and Ribcage (January 4)

This week we will explore the details of breath support and embodied integration through expanding the support around your heart, lungs, and shoulder girdle. You will learn embodiment tools to help unlock tensions in your upper torso that will allow your neck, jaw, and head to more easily float on the spine. These same embodied connections will also help support deeper connections to the lower core, and make you more receptive to inviting more of your authentic embodiment to life. 

As we we embark on this fourth week, we’ll also be expanding on our fluid watercolor paintings, and start to define shapes and colors to allow new forms to emerge that can speak to your unconscious. These will help tune you to your deeper core--your voice as an artist. ​

In this module, you will learn: 
  • Understanding the ribcage and how it holds the heart and lungs and supports breathing, and how breath can help regulate the heart through the vagus nerve
  • Principles of “haptic touch” as a way to communicate to the brain and help re-set and ground the energies within the body
  • Using the Embody Brush as a way to help activate the tissues of the upper arm as a way to release the chain connections within the ribcage and upper girdle
  • Fluid watercolor as a way to help access fluidity within creative expression and help unlock the deeper connections of the vagus nerve and unconscious

module 5: Releasing Tensions in the Eyes and Integrating Embodied Emotions (January 11)

​In this fifth week we will look at the details of embodied connection of lensing reality. Our eyes are an essential bridge to how we see the world, but they often become congested with unprocessed emotions. You’ll learn powerful embodiment rituals to help release tensions in the eyes and jaw that inhibit the experience of emotions, and help to activate a more grounded relationship to staying present to these emotions as they arise. 

As you learn to activate more of your eyes you will be invited to further expand on your fluid painting art though adding dimensional layers that will inspire the viewer’s eye to move, while inviting new meaning and experience to your work as an artist. 

In this module you will learn:
  • How tension often manifests in the eyes and looking at the key bones involved, and how this tension is also tied to trauma in the vagus nerve
  • Releasing tensions within the mouth 
  • Using emotion as a power to release deeper tensions in the body
  • Why certain words will tell us exactly how we really feel
  • Learning how to amplify energy internally through intention and embodied integration

Module 6: Curating your Embodied Experience and Creating a Master Theme (January 18)

​As we close our final week we will focus on the importance of curation and community. We will emphasize the integration of the embodiment work you've done. You will learn a practice which will invite you to have a conversation with your embodiment to help support your unique expression of voice. We’ll touch on the key areas within your embodiment that you will want to check in with, going forward, and how to utilize the work that we explored to upgrade your embodiment at any time of the day. 

We’ll focus this week artistically on curating artistic shares with the group. You will be encouraged to go deeper into the streamlining the work that you create and also create a selection of the pieces which most embody your experience, as well as be encouraged to write about what the work stirs in you. 

In this module you will learn: 
  • Why community is so important to fully integrating, and also co-regulating the vagus nerve 
  • Looking specifically at your own body and where tensions manifest, and how you can incorporate what you’ve learned to release them
  • Using breath with more focused intention and practice sharing your embodied intention with the group
  • Look at your art collection so far and choose a larger base/canvas to create a piece which will embody the theme of the whole
